WEEKLY: China's rebar output rises to 3.5-month high

Mysteel's latest production survey has showed that after rising for four straight weeks, the weekly output of rebars among the 137 Chinese steelmakers regularly monitored had hit a 3.5-month high of 2.27 million tonnes during March 6-12, with the volume climbing by 4.7% or 102,900 tonnes from the previous week. The data shows that blast-furnace mills were mainly responsible as they had continued to ramp up output during the survey period, more than offsetting a slight fall in electric-arc-furnace makers' production.

Steel mills in all regions except Central China recorded on-week gains in their rebar production, with those in Northwest and East China particularly witnessing significant rises, according to the survey.
