China’s copper scrap imports fell by 35.9% on year to 1.78 million tonnes over January-September, with the volume for September alone down 9.1% on month or 38.9% on year to 200,000 tonnes, according to the latest statistics released by the General Administration of Customs on October 23, mainly amid China’s stricter surveillance over rubbish and scrap imports including copper.
Over January-September, China’s aluminum scrap imports fell 25.2% on year to 1.19 million tonnes, and the tonnage for September reached 100,000 tonnes, down 23.1% on month or 46.9% lower on year, according to the Customs data.
