No hit seen to Chinese steel exports from EU safeguards


The European Commission’s definitive safeguard measures on imports of steel products which took effect from February 2 are unlikely to hurt China’s steel exports, according to Chinese market sources Wednesday.
The measures concern 26 steel product categories and consist of tariff-rate quotas above which a duty of 25% will apply. The definitive measures will replace similar safeguards imposed provisionally since July 2018, except that the number of categories covered has risen from 23 to 26, according to the EU’s official
