North China mills delivering fewer longs to market

Fourteen major steelmakers in North China’s Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region which Mysteel regularly monitors plan to deliver fewer long steel products to the local physical market this month, according to the results of a study Mysteel released on Wednesday. Many among the group are still observing production restrictions or have stopped lines for normal maintenance, so they anticipate their steel output will be reduced this month.
The study results showed that the 14 mills expect to supply some 1.8 million tonnes of longs – chiefly rebar, wire rod and bar-in-coil – to North China’s retail markets this month, lower by a large 288,000 tonnes or 14% on month. The data also shows that largest slump in
