NBS: China’s Jan-Jul coke output up 6.7% on year

Over January-July, China’s total coke output increased 6.7% on year to 274 million tonnes, though the coke output for July declined 5% on month but up 5.9% on year to 39.6 million tonnes, according to the latest statistics released by China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on August 14.
The month-on-month decrease in China’s coke output had to do with the enhanced restriction on coking in North and East China last month, and as of July 25, average coking capacity utilization rate among the 230 independent coke plants across China dropped a notable 2 percentage points on month to 75%, according to Mysteel’s
