NBS: China’s July pig iron output down 2.6% on month

China’s pig iron production declined for a second month in July, dipping by 1.83 million tonnes or 2.6% on month to 68.31 million tonnes, according to the latest data released by the country’s National Bureau of Statistics on August 14. The total tonnage was up by just a tiny 0.6% on year, the data show.
Last month’s result meant that the country’s total pig iron output over January-July reached 473.44 million tonnes, up 6.7% on year, according to the NBS data. However, growth over the seven months was down from the 7.9% year-on-year increase recorded for the first six months.
