The blast furnace capacity utilization rate among China’s 247 steelmakers primarily using blast furnaces for ironmaking hovered at its six-week high over August 9-15, up another 0.21 percentage point on week to 82.25%, according to Mysteel’s latest weekly survey released on August 16.
Accordingly, their daily molten iron output also rose by another 6,000 tonnes/day to a seven-week high of 2.3 million t/d in total, as steel mills in Tangshan had been gradually ramping up their output since the start of August when the restrictions eased from July, a Shanghai-based market analyst explained.
