China’s Jul Cu scrap imports off 39% on year
ABSTRACT
China’s copper scrap imports fell further in July, down 39.3% on year or 23.5% on month to 130,000 tonnes, and the total import volume over January-July added up to 980,000 tonnes, down 27.8% on year, according to the latest data from the country’s General Administration of Customs, which is due to the country’s tighter restriction on such solid waste imports since July 1.“Copper scrap imports shrank, as Beijing has tightened its restriction on eight waste materials including copper scrap since July, and domestic copper scrap supply also eased, as available copper sources for recycling also reduced amid the slowing in national economy,” an official from a copper fabricator in East China’s Jiangxi
