China's Jan-Oct iron ore imports dip 1.6% on year

China imported a total of 877.2 million tonnes of iron ore over January-October, with the year-on-year decline of 1.6% being slower than the 2.4% decrease seen over January-September. This was because of the higher import volumes arriving in October compared with last year, Mysteel Global understands from the latest statistics released by the country's General Administration of Customs.
For October alone, China imported nearly 92.9 million tonnes of iron ore, which was 5.1% higher on year, according to the Customs data released on November 8. The consecutive on-year increases since July were still mainly due to major miners in Australia and Brazil continuing to boost their iron ore shipments
