WEEKLY: China’s steel FOB prices climb further

Chinese steel export prices rose higher last week, encouraged by the steady increases in domestic long steel prices, with the B500B rebar export price climbing by a large $15/tonne on week to reach $460/t FOB Shanghai port as of November 22, according to Mysteel’s weekly export price tracker.
“Most domestic mills lifted their rebar export prices by $10-20/t recently, resulting in very thin sales in the global market,”said a market insider based in Southeast China. “But the mills are now concentrating on dealing with the more flourishing market at home, rather than chasing overseas business,”he added.
