China’s Nov coal imports fall to 9-month low

China’s imports of coal and lignite plunged by 19.1% on month in November to hit a nine-month low of 20.8 million tonnes, according to the latest data released by the country’s General Administration of Customs on December 8. They rose by 8.5% on year, however.
Despite the month-on-month decline in November, China’s total imports of coal and lignite over January-November increased by 10.2% on year to 299.3 million tonnes, with the growth being faster than the 9.6% witnessed over January-October, the Customs data shows. The fall in coal imports last month resulted from tougher restrictions on coal imports being applied
