China to import more scrap, but tight supplies will stay


China Solid Waste and Chemicals Management, the state conduit regulating the import of waste materials, will allow more non-ferrous metal scrap to be imported starting January 2020, according to the Beijing-based organization’s latest list of companies granted quotas for importing ferrous and non-ferrous scrap starting next January. The tonnage of copper scrap sanctioned is the largest so far under the new system, with that of aluminum scrap being second largest, Mysteel Global noted.
