Rio Tinto to ship 330-343 million t of iron ore in 2020

Anglo-Australian miner Rio Tinto has set its Pilbara iron ore shipments guidance for 2020 at 330-343 million tonnes, which is higher than last year’s final guidance of 320 to 330 million tonnes, according to the firm’s latest quarterly production report released on January 17. All tonnage is on 100% basis, Mysteel notes.
According to the report, during 2019 Rio produced a total of 326.7 million tonnes of iron ore on 100% basis (Rio share 270.7 million tonnes) in Western Australia’s Pilbara region, 3% below 2018 output, with the production in the fourth quarter over October-December reaching 83.6 million tonnes, down 3% on
