BHP H1 FY20 Cu output up 7% YoY, target unchanged

BHP’s copper production posted a year-on-year increase of 7% during the first half of the company’s 2020 fiscal year ending December 31, with total output reaching 885,000 tonnes. However, for now the company is maintaining its copper production guidance for the full 2020 business year (ending June 30, 2020) unchanged at 1.71-1.82 million tonnes, according to its latest quarterly production report released on January 21.
For the past quarter over October-December, its copper production reached 455,000 tonnes, higher by 9% on year and 6% on quarter.
Among all BHP’s copper mines, Escondida, its core asset in North Chile, produced 601,600 tonnes of copper in H1 (copper contained), up 4% on year, with production over the October-December
