Tianjin eyes three mills for closure in emissions battle

The government of Tianjin municipality in North China intends to order the closure of three integrated steel mills in 2020, as part of the city’s fight to “safeguard blue skies”, Mysteel Global learnt from a government notice published on March 11.
This year, the last in the city’s 2018-2020 campaign to accomplish its goal of containing atmospheric pollution, the municipal government is determined to lower the city’s concentration of particulate matter (PM 2.5) to 48 ug/cu m, in order to meet the three-year goal of controlling it below 52 ug/cu m.
