WEEKLY: China’s SiMn prices up further on rising Mn ore

Chinese silicomanganese (SiMn) prices rose again over April 13-17, supported by the steady increase in manganese ore prices, given market concerns that the South African lockdown extended until May 1 will affect manganese ore exports further, according to latest Mysteel’s weekly survey.
As of April 17, the price for 6517 grade SiMn in North China was assessed at Yuan 6,900/tonne ($975.7/t) EXW including the 13% VAT, up by anotherYuan 100/t or 1.5%from last Friday, Mysteel’s databaseshowed. “Most steel mills struggled to buy SiMn for under Yuan 6,600/t last week,”a Shanghai-based market insider said,
