WEEKLY: China steel exports quiet, global market reviving

China’s export offering prices of both hot-rolled coil (HRC) and rebar remained unchanged for the second week over May 2-9 with little trading concluded while global steel prices showed signs of recovery, as a number of countries had gradually eased the lockdown measures to fight against the COVID-19, according to Mysteel’s latest weekly survey.
Over the survey period, China’s export price of SS400 4.75mm HRC was at $400/tonne FOB Bayuquan port, Northeast China’s Liaoning province, and that of the B500B18-25mm rebar at $429/t FOB Shanghai port, and the market had remained quiet, as Chinese steel mills and traders were more interested in selling domestically,
