Australia-based minerals developer Pembroke Resources has received Federal environmental approval for its 15 million tonnes/year Olive Downs coking coal project in Central Queensland, Northeast Australia, according to a company release on May 14. If mining leases are granted, the company will be able to commence construction, the company announced.
The approvals under Canberra’s Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act, and the previous grant of the Queensland government’s Environmental Authority in 2019, “provide a clear pathway to grant of the mining leases and the commencement of construction and creation of over 1,000 new jobs in the region”, according to Pembroke.
