WSA: Global crude steel output plunges 13% in April

Total steel output of the 64 countries under the monthly tracking of the World Steel Association (WSA) contracted sharply by 13% on year to 137.1 million tonnes in April as a consequence of the battle against the coronavirus pandemic being waged worldwide at that time.
Last month, China was the only country among the world’s top 10 producers to post growth in crude steel output, with production nudging up by 0.2% on year to 85 million tonnes, according to WSA, showing that the country was emerging from the worst effects of COVID-19. Introducing its April
