Hedland, Dampier FY20 iron ore exports up 3% at 668 mln t

The Pilbara Ports Authority (PPA) authority says the total volume of all commodities shipped through its ports reached an all-time record high of 717.2 million tonnes over its July 2019-June 2020 financial year, out of which iron ore exports from Port Hedland and Port of Dampier, Western Australia’s two important iron ore terminals, accounted for 668 million tonnes, higher by 3.1% on year. Other commodities sailing from the ports included manganese ore, salt and LNG, Mysteel Global notes.
Over 2019-2020, iron ore shipments from Port Hedland rose by 24.9 million tonnes or 5% on year to reach 531.5 million tonnes, while those from Port of Dampier last fiscal dipped by 5.1 million tonnes or 3.6% on year to 136.1 million tonnes, according to PPA’s recent report released on
