WEEKLY: Steel scrap prices continue to diverge in Asia

Asia’s market for steel scrap continued to diverge for a third week over July 3-10, with Taiwan and Japan seeing their landed steel scrap prices decrease, while prices in other Asian markets and Japan’s export prices showed signs of strengthening, according to Mysteel’s latest survey.
For China, Mysteel’s steel scrap price index edged up for a second week by another Yuan 7.3/tonne ($1/t) on week to Yuan 2,515.5/t on delivery and including the 13% VAT, supported by the seasonal supply tightness amid the continuous rains deluging much of the country’s eastern provinces.
