WEEKLY: Coking coal output dips again at China washeries

Daily output of processed coking coal among the 110 Chinese wash plants under Mysteel’s weekly survey declined by another 12,400 tonnes/day or 2% on week to 646,500 t/d as of July 14, a three-month low. Respondents to Mysteel’s latest survey said throughput over July 8-14 was mainly impacted by weakened sales and by disruptions to operations at several mines in the sample, Mysteel reported on July 15.
As of Tuesday, the operating rate of the wash plants had slid too, declining by 2.4 percentage points on week to a 1.5-month low of 76.8%. However, their combined inventories of washed coking coal totalled 2.1 million tonnes, unchanged on week, Mysteel’s data showed.
