WEEKLY: Met coal washing in China falls to 5-month low

Total output of processed metallurgical coal from the 110 Chinese affiliated and independent wash plants under Mysteel’s weekly survey fell to an average of 636,400 tonnes/day as of August 4, lower by 18,800 tonnes/day or 2.9% on week to reach a five-month low, according to Mysteel’s data published on Wednesday. Industry watchers blamed continuing weak demand.
The operating rate of the 110 plants under Mysteel’s weekly survey declined markedly by 2.2 percentage points on week to 76.8% as of August 4, reaching a three-week low, Mysteel’s data showed.
