North Queensland July coal throughput falls to 17-m low

Total coal throughput via the three key terminals operated by North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation (NQBP) in Northeast Australia fell 21% on month in July or 24.1% on year to 9.7 million tonnes, or hitting a 17-month low, according to recent NQBP data. The marked decline may reflect the reduction in seaborne coal bookings from Chinese coal users last month, according to analysts.
The three terminals, comprising Abbot Point, Hay Point Coal Terminal and Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal, are Australia’s major metallurgical coal exporting conduits.
