Chinese prices of iron ore concentrate in most regions nationwide rose again over August 3-7, supported by firm demand from domestic steel mills when prices of imported iron ore surged to new highs during the period, according to Mysteel’s latest weekly survey. An exception was the price in East China’s Anhui province which declined slightly, mainly because of the higher delivery costs.
Chinese steelmakers continued to buy more domestically produced concentrates and agreed to raise their buying prices accordingly, as concs prices remained more cost-effective than those of imported iron ore which had strengthened further last week, the survey showed.
For example, Mysteel’s PORTDEX 62% Fe Australian Fines price climbed to Yuan 924/wmt
