NBS: China’s Jan-Jul pig iron output up 3.2% on year

China’s pig iron production increased by 3.2% on year to 510.86 million tonnes during January-July, with the growth outpacing that of crude steel output at 2.8% over the same period, according to data from the country’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) released on August 14.
Growth in hot metal output during the first seven months was also faster than the 2.2% on-year growth during January-June, as the total volume in July alone recorded an on-year incline of 8.8% to around 78.18 million tonnes, Mysteel Global notes.
Pig iron output in July was also higher by 2%
