China’s YTD power use grows strongly in August

China’s year-to-date power consumption grew in August, with the volume rising by 0.5% on year to 4.77 trillion kWh over January-August, according to new data from the National Energy Administration (NEA). The cumulative eight-month rise brought an end to the sustained drop since early this year, the data show.
What helped the year-to-date result was August’s performance where the country consumed 729.4 billion kWh of electricity, up by 6.9% on month and by 7.7% on year. The on-year growth in August was also 5.4 percentage points higher from July, NEA data showed.
