China Jan-Sept steel exports down 20%, imports up 72%

China exported a total of 40.4 million tonnes of finished steel products over January-September, down more steeply by 19.6% on year than the 18.6% on-year reduction for the first eight months, while its steel imports surged faster by 72.2% on year to 15.1 million tonnes, according to the latest release by China’s General Administration of Customs on October 13.
