WEEKLY: China’s HRC output drops to a four-month low

Production of hot-rolled coil (HRC) among the country’s 37 flat steelmakers decreased for the third week over October 15-21 to 3.2 million tonnes, or hitting a new low since mid-June, and this had lent some support to the prices when demand had remained largely stable, Mysteel’s data showed.
The output decreased another 34,200 tonnes or 1.1% on week, according to Mysteel’s survey, and the rolling capacity utilization rate among these mills, accordingly, reduced 0.87 percentage point on week to 81.93% on average over the same period.
