Rio Tinto’s 2020 copper output down 9% on year


Rio Tinto’s mined copper output for 2020 declined 9% on year to 527,900 tonnes, which was mainly due to degrading in the deposits and the operation interruption by the COVID-19, the company shared in its latest production report released on January 19.
The actual output fell into the company’s 2020 production guidance of mined copper at 500,000-550,000 tonnes, and over the October-December quarter, Rio’s mined copper output recovered 2% on quarter to 132,500 tonnes, but it was still down 4% on year.
