China’s Jan-Feb passenger car sales rise 71% on year

Total passenger car sales throughout China over January to February increased 71% on year to nearly 3.4 million units, according to the latest release from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). But the semi-conductor shortage continues to impact car manufacturing, it warned.
Car sales in February alone reached 1.2 million units, rocketing by 337% on year due to the low base in the same period in 2020 because of the pandemic. The result was also 2% higher than February 2019, according to CPCA.
Beijing’s supportive policies encouraging vehicle sales will continue, the association
