MYSTEEL: China’s early Apr daily steel output dips 0.4%


Daily crude steel output among the 318 Chinese steel mills under Mysteel’s regular survey resumed declining during the first ten days of April after the slight rebound late last month, with the tonnage down 11,600 tonnes/day or 0.4% from late March to average 2.88 million t/d, according to Mysteel’s latest survey released on April 12.
The 318 surveyed mills comprise 247 blast-furnace (BF) and 71 electric-arc-furnacemillsacrossChina. The decreasein early Aprilwas mainly attributed to the greater number of maintenance stoppages on blast furnaces in Tangshan in North China’s Hebei province, as most local steel producers were requested to trim their operative steelmaking capacities by 30-50% to adhere to air pollution control measures.
