CEC: Non-fossil to lead China power capacity in 2021


China’s installed power capacity fuelled by non-fossil resources is anticipated to reach 1.12 billion kW, thus surpassing the capacity by coal by the end of 2021, which is part of the parcel in Beijing’s efforts to reduce carbon emission, according to a recent report by China Electricity Council (CEC).
By the end of this year, China’s total power generation capacity will reach 2.37 billion kW, among which non-fossil energy will reach 47.3%, and for the newly-commissioned power generation capacity for 2021, 140 million kW of about 180 million kW will be non-fossil energy, CEC shared, though no detailed breakdowns
