WEEKLY: China steel FOB prices up further, trade robust


The steady climb in Chinese steel export prices which began after Chinese New Year in late February continued last week, and export sales, especially those of hot-rolled coil (HRC), regained their pace even though the issue of the rebate cuts remains undecided, according to Mysteel’s latest report.
As of April 23, the transaction price of SS400 4.75mm HRC assessed by Mysteel was $888/tonne FOB at North China’s Tianjin municipality, increasing by another $22/t on week. “Overseas demand continued to increase last week, so even though Chinese offers have been climbing, trade remains robust,” a Shanghai-based market observer said,
