MYMETAL: China’s carbon emission goals a boon to Al

The wider adoption of renewable energy and new energy vehicles (NEVs) as key components to aid China with achieving carbon emission peak by 2030 and carbon neutral by 2060, will boost the demand for aluminum and aluminum alloys with the merits of light weight, high strength, high corrosion resistance and affordability in mass production, Mymetal, Mysteel’s nonferrous metals data collection arm, shared in its market outlook report.
By 2030, 350 kg of aluminum are expected to be used in per unit of automaking, up from 210 kg at present, as reduction by every 100 kg in a vehicle weight will lower carbon dioxide emission by 5g/km, and electricity consumption will be reduced by 5.5% with every 10%
