Chips shortage leads to lower auto output in China in May


Shortly after the announcement from Toyota on lowering output in June because of auto semi-conductors supply shortage, auto production among China’s 11 major automakers under the survey of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) also posted a 10.7% on-year decline to 983,000 units over May 1-20 for the same reason, market sources noted.
“Auto production is still troubled by the chips supply shortage, and this may well last throughout the rest of this year.
