Japan’s May finished steel exports up 11% on year


For May, Japan’s exports of finished steel in all grades and forms rose by 10.9% on year to about 2.75 million tonnes, or the first month with an on-year gain after 12 consecutive months of drops, according to the preliminary data released by Japan’s Ministry of Finance on June 16.
The May volume was also up 1.8% higher on month, and its steel export value in FOB totalled Yen 281.89 billion ($2.56 billion), or up 43.5% on year and 1.7% higher on month, according to the data.
