Japan’s heavy plate price in the domestic spot market have been strengthening since late last year, and by July 13, the prices have gained another Yen 2,000/tonne ($18/t) on week, as supply has been very limited with the rather fast recovery in demand from the domestic long-term deal customers and overseas buyers, sources in Tokyo and Osaka shared on Tuesday.
On July 13, SS400 grade 19mm thick
(1,524x3,048mm cut) heavy plate are transacted at Yen 111,000-114,000/tonne in
Tokyo, while those imported SS400 grade plates (for shearing purposes) are sold
at Yen 99,000-102,000/t, both up Yen 2,000/t on week and Yen 11,000/t higher on
month, sources shared.
