CISA: Members’ late Jul daily steel output falls 4%


Daily crude steel output among the member mills of the China Iron & Steel Association (CISA) reversed down during the ten days over July 21-31 to 2.11 million t/d on average, slipping 4% or 87,200 tonnes/day from the average over July 11-20, according to the association’s latest release on August 5. It cited slack steel demand and the fact that many domestic mills were obeying local government instructions to curtail steel output till end-December.
Consequently, for the whole month of July daily crude steel output among CISA’s member mills dropped by 13.4% on month to 2.14 million t/d on average, which was also down by 4.4% on year, the CISA data showed. Based on its member-mill results, CISA estimated the country’s daily crude steel output
