WEEKLY: China steel FOB prices firm, competitiveness low


Export prices of major Chinese steel products remained generally firm last week, after two consecutive weeks of increases. In contrast, steel prices in the international market declined by $20-40/t last week, causing China-origin steel items to lose more of their price competitiveness, according to Mysteel’s latest weekly report.
Last week, the transaction price of SS400 4.75mm hot-rolled coil (HRC) assessed by Mysteel was unchanged on week at $941/t FOB North China’s Tianjin port, while the price of SPCC 1.0mm cold-rolled coil(CRC) nudged up by another $2/tonne on week to $1,030/t FOB Tianjin port.
