CISA: Members’ early Sept daily steel output down 0.4%

Daily crude steel output among the member mills of the China Iron & Steel Association (CISA) waned further over the first ten days of September, albeit by a minor 0.4% or 7,800 tonnes/day from late August, to 2.04 million t/d on average. The association’s announcement on September 15 chiefly cited steelmaker response to Beijing’s directive that steel output be cut this year.
Based on the performance of its member mills, CISA estimated the country’s daily crude steel output at 2.67 million t/d for early September, or down 0.6% from August 21-31. As of September 10, finished steel stocks at the association’s member mills declined further by 0.8% or 103,300 tonnes from August
