Japan Aug steel exports up 14% YoY, down 3.5% MoM


In August, Japan’s steel exports of all categories and all grades and forms approximated 2.92 million tonnes, up 13.7% on year but 3.5% lower on month, according to the preliminary data released by Japan’s Ministry of Finance on September 16, which was probably due to the delay in the shipment over heavy rainfalls last month.
The country’s steel exports, thus, increased on year for the fourth month, though the pace slowed compared with the 22.5% on-year gain for July, Mysteel Global noted, and over January-August, Japan exported about 22.7 million tonnes of steel, or up 3.3% on year, the official data showed.
