Beijing reviews and cracks down on “Two Highs” projects


Beijing has been reviewing and cracking down on the blind development of projects with “Two Highs” - a short term referring to those projects with high emission and energy consumption, as such projects appear many over 2021-2025 and may lead to a serious increase in power consumption, China’s Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) shared in a post on September 20.
“Such projects, when commissioned, will lead to high energy consumption and carbon dioxide emission… so the crackdown on the blind development of such projects are of top priority for China to achieve carbon emission peak and carbon neutral,” it stated.
