WSA: Global Aug crude steel output dips in 13 months


In August, crude steel production among 64 countries worldwide under the monthly survey of World Steel Association (WSA) contracted on year for the times after it climbed out of the decline in August 2020, down 1.4% to 156.8 million tonnes, mainly due to the sharp fall in the crude steel output from China - the world’s No.1 steelmaking country, according to the association’s release on September 23.
The global steel output also dropped on month for the third consecutive month by 3%, Mysteel Global calculated based on the WSA data, which more or less closely correlated with the downtrend in China’s steel output. This suggested that the rises in steel output outside China had failed to make up
