WSA: Global Sept steel output down faster due to China


In September, the 64 countries worldwide under the monthly survey of the World Steel Association (WSA) saw their total steel output fall faster by 8.9% on year to 144.4 million tonnes, as against the 1.4% on-year fall in August, according to the latest statistics released by the association on October 26, mainly due to the continuing reduction in steel production from China, the world's No.1 steelmaking country.
China remained the world's top steelmaking country, but its crude steel output slumped 21.2% on year to 73.8 million tonnes in September, or accounting for 51.1% of world's total, lower than the 53.1% for August, Mysteel Global calculated.   Last month, the global steel output also decreased on month for the fourth
