NDRC plans to lift coal base price by 30%


China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) is seeking public feedback on plans to raise the base price of 5,500 kcal/kg thermal coal in the country's medium- or long-term contracts to Yuan 700/tonne ($109.9/t) effective 2022, some 31% higher from the Yuan 535/t adopted since 2017.
According to the NDRC's draft - released at 2022 China Coal Trade Conference in Rizhao in East China's Shandong on December 3 - the coal pricing mechanism for medium- or long-term contract sales next year will retrain the base price with fluctuation, with the price adjusted monthly within Yuan 550-850/t.   From
