Japan's stocks of imported flat steel fall in Nov


By the end of last month, the stocks of imported hot-rolled coils (HRC), cold-rolled coils (CRC) and heavy plates at Japan's key ports of Tokyo and Osaka had declined on month for the first since July, slipping by 1.3% from end-October to 150,000 tonnes, according to data released by Japanese trading house, Hanwa Co on December 24. Compared with end-November last year however, the combined total was higher by a huge 43%.
Hanwa officials in charge of collating the port stock data could not be reached for comment but the on-month decline in stocks could reflect slower arrivals of imported materials, according to industry sources.
