China's Dec high-carbon FeCr output hits two-year high

ABSTRACT

Chinese high-carbon ferrochrome (FeCr) production continued edging up for the third straight month in December to hit its two-year high of 658,900 tonnes since, or up 2.6% on month and up 31.5% on year, according to Mysteel's latest monthly survey. Behind the continual on-month rise was the keen production enthusiasm from domestic FeCr smelters.
Among the total, FeCr output in North China's Inner Mongolia, the country's largest high-carbon FeCr production base, rose to 333,400 tonnes, up 12.6% on month, according to Mysteel's assessment.   "The rather stable power supply in northern China in particular has encouraged local FeCr smelters to maintain steady production," a Shanghai-based market
