China's manganese ore prices reach two-year high


Chinese manganese ore prices have been steadily strengthening since April and as of June 15, the price of South Africa-origin 36.5% grade Mn ore at North China's Tianjin port had touched a two-year high of Yuan 44.8/dmtu ($6.7/dmtu) including the 13% VAT, gaining another Yuan 1.6/dmtu on week and taking the total increase over the past eight weeks to Yuan 7/dmtu, according to Mysteel's data.
The growth is mainly being driven by higher offering prices of major overseas mines and the steady demand from Chinese SiMn smelters, Mysteel Global learned.   For example, United Manganese of Kalahari (UMK), a manganese ore producer and exporter in South Africa, had decided to hike its price of 36% manganese ore
