WEEKLY: China coke-plant coke stocks rise to 4-week high


Total coke stocks at the 230 Chinese independent coking plants under Mysteel's regular survey mounted for the second week during June 24-30, rising by 60,400 tonnes or 11% on week to 615,100 tonnes to hit a four-week high. Stocks rose chiefly because of softened coke sales, despite the reduction in coke output during the survey period, sources said.
Over the same survey period, coke production at the surveyed coke makers dropped for the fourth week by another 8,500 tonnes/day on week to 559,200 t/d on average, refreshing the lowest record since late April. The drop in output was symptomatic of the losses some coke makers were still suffering
